"Journey For Hope": Viva Mexico! Viva Independencia!

The centre piece of the town plaza is La Parroquia, a parish church famous for its Neo Gothic exterior which is lit up at night. When the sun sets, the town buzzes with activity as people congregate around the plaza and Mariachi bands wander the streets, serenading anyone with a few pesos to spare. It`s a place I`d like to have spent longer in, but the next day I was due in Mexico City. Mexico City was never going to be on my route through the country, because it`s one of the world`s biggest cities, around 20 million people live there and I`d heard how difficult it was to ride through and [suite...]

The Audition … « J.A.M.

We did the usual “Beaver Pie” thing in Port Alfred en route and duly arrived in PE, on schedule where we were dropped off at Greenacres Shopping Centre. Now what? I needed to be at Langerry Holiday Flats on the Beachfront in Humewood where I had booked in until  Sunday (I decided to make a weekend of it largely due to the fact that SA Connection only traveled back again on Sunday). I found a bus stop after enquiring at a nearby Garage and lo and behold the first bus that arrived some 10 minutes later was headed for Summerstrand. Off we went and in no time I was standing at the reception [suite...]

Streetsblog New York City » Dollar-A-Day Bike Parking Arrives at ...

Edison ParkFast advertises its bike parking at Hester and Centre Streets. Photo: Noah Kazis The combination of the Bicycle Access to Garages law and the market’s invisible hand are bringing cheap bike parking to locations across Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. As of last month, every garage operated by Edison ParkFast, one of the largest parking companies in the city, is offering bike parking at the rate of $1 per day or $20 per month. Edison was already offering bike parking at its larger garages, said Executive Vice-President for Parking Ben Feigenbaum, due to the requirements of the [suite...]

wifedownunder: A very nice 70th birthday party.

We took Totty out for a walk to Rotary Park and it was very calm and mild down there after the awful wind last night. We got ready to go out to Mark's house stopping at the garden centre for a coffee and muffin on the way. While we were having coffee it poured with rain. We thought we would reach Mark's house too early, the Kiwis don't do early, so drove off the road and sat for a little while enjoying the view. Mark lives up on top of a hill and we were not sure if we would be able to park at the top but we managed to get a spot. As the weather was forecast to rain they had set up in the [suite...]

Border Patrol ride yesterday... it was er interesting - SV650.org ...

Anyway on the straight just past the white water centre I went to overtake, but just as I started to pull out a blue van appeared oncoming over the rise so I eased off and started to pull back in. Next thing, a sharp bump on the back wheel and the bike wobbled a bit. I checked the offside mirror and saw Ness's blue SV go down, it fell heavily on its right side. I have replayed this so many times in my mind, I knew it was going to be serious. My bike stayed upright, I stopped as quickly as I could and ran back to find Ness's bike lying on the right hand side, on the nearside lane, facing [suite...]

The Culinary Explorations of Mrs Cake: Le Cafe, the Arts Centre ...

Mr Cake's porridge was pretty nice, but he found it to be a bit on the cool side - all in all we were disappointed, mainly because we spent about 35 minutes waiting for our food, and it was a bit average after all that. They used to have spectacular brioche French toast, but I am talking maybe 5 years ago, so not surprising that the menu has changed. It does seem to me, though, that cafe breakfast menus are getting pretty same-y - is it possible to get pancakes with something other than banana and bacon, for instance? Oh well - I think Le Cafe may stay in the late-night fries/dessert category [suite...]

bouncing Backwards - Triumph Forum: Triumph Rat Motorcycle Forums

If I give a few blips of the throttle on the centre stand, I can easily shift it a couple of feet. It's a bit of a pain in the garage (concrete floor) so I might invest in a carpet tile. I'm doing the sludge trap next year and wondered, does dynamic balancing help with the tickover vibes? (mine's a 79E with 8:1 pistons, half race cam, straight through megas and lightened valve [suite...]

Minimum posts for wanted section? - EK9.org JDM EK9 Honda Civic ...

Just an idea for the wanted section. As it stands to post something in the for sale section you need 100 posts. However you can respond to a wanted ad as soon as you register. Just think if you keep an eye on the wanted section you can easily not bother listing anything for sale by posting replies. Hope that makes as much sense as I think it [suite...]
