Carnegie Sports Weekly - Episode 09: Tennis
Welcome to Leeds Met Carnegie Tennis Club. We are a vibrant, enthusiastic and very committed club, and as such have been very successful over the past seasons. There are opportunities for all standards of players to enjoy their tennis and be part of an exciting tennis club. The teams compete Nationally in the BUCS Leagues and also within the European Leagues. The team training sessions are structured around the academic requirements of the players and includes on court squad and individual work, with a full strength and conditioning support program. Due to high demand, a large recreation program has being created to provide opportunities for all standards of players. Students also volunteer and assist in the coaching program for the Juniors in the LTA High Performance Tennis Centre, making great role models for younger players. 1. Preston Table Tennis Centre, England
Since the end of the 1970's, Preston Table Tennis Association - founded in 1928/29 - had been experiencing a decline in interest. This has now changed. Thanks to a collaboration between ourselves, Preston Borough Council and with the help of lottery funding we now have a top class table tennis centre at St Augustine's, Avenham, Preston. Watch this video to see how moving to our Centre in 2005 has allowed us to rebuild our Association and promote table tennis in the Preston area as a sport for the young or old; social or competitive player.
